SBI-Secrets(Site Build It) and Tips for Making Money on the Internet!All The Stuff I Wished I'd Known Before I Signed Up With SBIOk I'm gonna spill the beans and give you my Site-Build-It-Secrets. It's been almost a year since I got fed up with getting ripped off on the internet and bought an SBI site. I first tried to get started on the internet in about 1998. I got totally ripped off by a friend of the family- took our money and locked up our domain name for two years :( The BEST Time to Buy SBISBI does go on sale and the best time to buy SBI is when they have their Buy One, Get One FREE sale in December. The cool thing is you could buy the two sites for aprox $300 and turn around and sell the second site and get half your money back immediately!!!! These second sites are highly in demand and in the forums there is an area where you can go and other SBI owners are thrilled to buy them for say $150!!!! You could even perhaps get more but everybody in the forums knows you only really paid $150 so it's hard to sell for more there but if you have other connections, you can see if you can get a better price- After all if they just go to the SBI site and sign up they'll be paying the full $300.And no you can't just add the 2nd site onto your first to get an extra year of hosting, etc. UPDATE: This practice is now frowned on by SBI and you can no longer offer your unused site for sale in the forums First Lesson LearnedYou gotta be in control of your Domain Name! and don't just go checking for domain names on GoDaddy.com as they buy up the ones you don't get immediately and resell them. You need to check for Domain names with an impartial site like ................ that won't go buying up your ideas when you've got your backed turned! I found GoDaddy.com, bought my old domain name and bought their program Website Complete so I could work on my own website and not have to pay a programmer. About a year later they discontinued any customer service for Website Complete!!!! I like that Godaddy.com has 24hr support but I felt like the rug was pulled out from under me AGAIN!!! So what's the lesson? You've gotta stick with someone you can trust!!!I like SBI( Site Build It) because they are very up front. SBI is not a get rich quick program but they give you the basics and get you started and it does just keep getting better. They're phone support is $20 per call and so I've never used that part. The email support is FREE and they have fantastic forums where we all pitch in and help each other out. More Lessons/TipsWhen I first found SBI I jumped in because it was during the December Sale and I didn't want to miss out on the huge savings. Everyone was on vacation so I couldn't ask if they had:BLOGS: they have just added these and will soon have the system set up so you can use word press blogs but not quite yet. Hosted Videos: limited capacity but you can do small ones. The new features they're adding will take care of that dilemna too! Forums, etc: These too are in the "beta" testing stages and will be ready very soon I was kind of bummed out at first since I'd signed up and they didn't provide all the cool stuff I wanted but I'm very excited that this stuff is going to be available very soon- it will take the purchase of some extra hosting but SBI is a very good value for beginner who can't just whip out pages of html code and make pages without their own easy to use progam. UPDATE: Bummed out no more! The new program to take care of the video and blogging "problem" are dealt with! Also as far as video goes, you can actually host quite a bit of video on your actual SBI site, especially if it's converted to FLASH. Lesson: Slow is goodMy goal for the SBI site I purchased was to have a place to sell my husband's book Confessions of a Butcher- Eat Steak on a Hamburger Budget and Save$$$. It took me from the end of December to the middle of May to get my site plan, research and domain name chosen. It was very frustrating and slow going as I couldn't just find my own niche and build a website I would love. This first site was for John and then I'd get the second site once his was up and running and then he could take over. My site idea had to be economically feasible and also work with his book- something meat related. I finally choose www.all-about-meat.comUPDATE: John hasn't taken over his site on meat but I have dabbled on this site. I've gotten his site up to an average of 120 new visitors a day and gotten some good search engine rankings. I still have a huge backload of pages and pictures to get up and running and now I'm experimenting with adding video.
