What's Cooking!
Here's 5 fabulous falls soups to warm you up!
What's for dinner are the most anticipated words of the day, either the most dreaded or the most exciting. I love to cook(clean up is another story)! and I'm always looking for the next great, awesome, wonderful recipe especially if it's frugal and inexpensive! We grow a garden, glean whenever possible and try to eat whole grains, real foods and avoid "fake foods" like boxed macaroni and cheese. I also am realistic. I can't always make my own bread, grind my own flour and milk the cow, slop the pigs, and meet all my family's needs, all day, every day. While we've raised rabbits, dairy and cashmere goats, cows, llamas, chickens, cats and dogs, we currently have no animals. We have a garden but I've chosen to limit my canning and preserving due to current time constraints and limitations. I use canned evaporated milk- a gallon jug of fresh milk is gone within a half an hour around here. I can mix evaporated- one can makes one quart- and use it for cooking and if they really want milk, they drink it. Regular milk, in jugs, from the store is a treat and luxury at this point. Thanks to having a butcher in the family, we eat meat, more frequently than I'd like but I believe in eating what the good Lord provides and making the most of what's available. I hate vegetables and love fruits, dairy products; especially cheese! I don't really "hate" veggies but I prefer all other food categories and really have to work at adding them to our diet. So much for my food favs ( oh yeah and I LOVE DESSERTS- but we're watching our waists-I mean weights, so I'll try and balance the plate).
